Holiday home static caravans generally have sleeping accommodation for 6 to 8 people - in 2 or 3 bedrooms and on convertible seating in the lounge. If these are sited on a holiday park, they are intended for leisure use only, and the owner has to have a permanent place of residence in addition to the holiday home static caravan. If sited on your own land, then they can be used for a variety of different requirements.Static caravans come in 10ft or 12ft widths, and a small number in 13ft or 14ft widths, with lengths up to 41ft. More recently, a few 16ft wide static caravans have been designed, consisting of two 8ft wide units joined together.
Static caravans are not towed, as they are too large and only have a simple chassis with no suspension or brakes. They are transported on the back of large flatbed lorries and the axle and wheels are only used for movement to the final location by tractor or four wheel drive when on site. That is not to say that you can’t relocate them, should the need ever arise. Relocation, re-siting and re-connecting are all services that Joal Leisure are happy to arrange at an affordable cost – even to locations abroad!
